Baseball Jersey & Trainers

It has been reported from the streets of Milan and Paris fashion week that baseball jerseys are the new must-wear for spring/summer 2014.

Chic sports gear is making its debut on the streets of high fashion cities, so why not adopt the look by digging through your wardrobe and finding your favourite supporters sports top or old high school sporting jacket. This look is casual and comfortable, giving off that boy-next-door look. The New York fashion week which happened this month revealed a new line of sporting jerseys, specifically the arrival of football sweaters with a twist. Instead of having football player’s names featured at the back of the jersey, designers are now printing their own names across the back such as Les Plus Dorés.

Baseball jerseys are frequently seen in stores around South Africa. Mr Price has a number of fashionable sporting jerseys for only R119.99, available in various colours (red and grey, blue and grey and maroon and white). You can buy a middle-of-the-range baseball jersey from Truworths, Uzzie for R525.00 and if you are wanting to invest in a top-quality jacket, visit Country Road (in Woolworths) to buy your baseball jerseys (product name ‘Varsity Jacket’) for R1299.00.

Pair your baseball jersey with a stylish pair of rolled up (to the ankle) skinny jeans or chinos. Showing off a bit of your ankle when rolling up your pants ever so slightly not only serves your best interest in the hot summer weather but also portrays you to be the fashionisto you are. Pair the boyish outfit with a pair of fashionable trainers/sneakers, which are available in countless colours and brand types - these shoes are no longer to be worn solely for sporting activities but is a wardrobe must-have. New Balance, Nike, Le Coq Sportif, Woolworths and any sports store will stock this stylish footwear (prices range from roughly R300-R1500).

Happy Socks

If you are style-savvy and find comfort in wearing layers of black, DON’T STOP NOW!

Using a variety of proportions when putting your black-on-black outfit together is the way to be street-style slick. Why not pair a long length t-shirt or vest with cropped-up trousers, tailored cardigan and sweat shirt, creating an impeccably bold and layered look.

In order to brighten up your all-black look, look no further than a foot accessory which is well-crafted and a wardrobe essential

 TOE PORN & HAPPY SOCKS!

Why socks? Often socks get overlooked as a piece of clothing because they are seen more as a necessity rather than an accessory. Socks can be used to pull an outfit together while making an eye-catching fashion statement. For the more conservative dresser, this may be out of your comfort zone as it is most likely to attract attention. Why not try the Paisley, Small Dotted or Stripe Toe Sock designs - sticking to a more conservative look but still venturing out and being a fashionisto

Whether you prefer to play it safe or make a big fashion statement, never fall into the trap of believing that socks are strictly functional - they are fun, so experiment with them. If you are daring enough, go BIG! Wear bright, blazing colours and prints but remember to roll up your trousers ever so slightly and keep the rest of your outfit neutral (you don’t want to look like you're working as a circus clown).

Living in South Africa, it might be difficult to buy the popular sock brands Toe Porn and Happy Socks but there are numerous retailers who stock a remarkable collection of fashionable socks. Look at the table below to find your perfect match!

Camo Confidential

From London to New York, Camouflage has once again made its debut as the flavour of the month, becoming a part of the spring and summer 2014 fashion collection.

This season Camo is taking various forms from the traditional army style version to blue-floral Camo, simple Camouflage pockets and combining Camo with bright splashes of colour. Before adopting this playful trend, think about how much of the pattern you are willing to work into your street-style outfit and whether you are wanting to embrace the full Camouflage pattern or simply stick to the more conservative, chic, khaki colour. Camo print can be seen on trousers, shoes, satchels, jackets and hats. To avoid looking like you just walked out of the army or from a game of paint-ball, why not incorporate Camo more subtly into your outfit but still be a trendy fashionisto.

Visit Cotton On to find a well-priced Camo shirt, the Hogan and Chambray style being the most popular for only R299 or buy a Camo styled jacket ON SALE NOW for R200. If you want to go for a Scottish highland look, visit Topman and purchase the Parka Jacket for R999. Mr Price also offers a great deal, for R229.99 you can buy a fabulous hooded Camo Utility Jacket or a Camo Bomber Jacket for R149.99.

Slim Camo Chinos paired with a good pair of Combat Boots forms a nice grunge look. Camo trousers are available at Zara Online for €35.95/R469. For a more relaxed feel while remaining trendy; why not try a camo print t-shirt available at Mr Price for R39.99 or a military cap for R69.99.

A Sneak Peak of Upcoming Trends- Spring 2014

My blogging journey has begun despite considering myself to be highly technologically challenged. After jotting down various ideas about what to blog about I came to the decision to blog about what I love most, fashion!

Not knowing much about blogs I decided to do some investigating and so visited my three best friend’s blogs: CLEOPATRA- the blog, Joey. B in Jozi and the MOWGLI blog. These fabulous art works gave me inspiration to create my own master piece and so I decided to blog about men’s fashion from a female’s perspective (adding a slight twist to the usual fashion blog created by a young woman). The grand idea is to follow new trends, provide insight into the fashion world and give men tips about what females may find vastly attractive and what fashion faux pas to avoid!

So, as I sit in front of the fireplace with my laptop and a hot cup of tea on this very cold winters day (after watching a number of fashion week videos from Tom Ford to Diesel and Dolce) I have begun creating a fashion mood board of the upcoming trends of 2014 that all men should be familiar with in order to bring out their own fashionisto. Camouflage prints, baseball jerseys, accent colours, polka dot prints, coloured mirrored lenses and a chic leather bag are only a few must haves for the upcoming season. Become a fashion-guru and release your inner fashionisto by studying the fashion collage provided, I dare you to try a trend or two.

Me, My Passion, My Blog

I am a 22 year old student living in the vibrant city of Cape Town, South Africa. I am of Austrian and Portuguese descent giving me an insight into both European and Mediterranean cultures. I graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Social Science degree majoring in Psychology and Media and Writing at the University of Cape Town and am currently completing my Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing and Business Management. Next year, I wish to do what I do best; work, travel and shop.

Over the course of my life I have embraced a number of hobbies: travelling, ballet, film and most importantly fashion. I decided to start blogging as I felt I lacked creativity in my life and realised blogging would not only help me gain inspiration but help me become a better writer, thinker and hopefully inspire others. The two-way communication that a blog offers is highly appealing as I enjoy interacting with people and being exposed to new, interesting and creative ideas.

The idea behind klothes4bros blossomed as I am passionate about the history of fashion, fashion trends, textiles and the diversification of personal styles all around the world. klothes4bros focuses on male fashion from a female perspective. You can expect to read about current and future fashion trends, similarities and comparisons between past and current fashion and designer labels and brands.klothes4bros will illuminate the ‘Do’s and Don’ts’ of fashion and illustrate street-fashion photographs taken of imaginative fashionisto’s in Cape Town and those found on my travels- while looking at specific trending items of clothing and the magic behind creating an outfit.
